Gossamer Gear Minimalist 19 Daypack

The Gossamer Gear Minimalist 19 is a lightweight but very comfortable and practical small backpack. With spacious exterior pockets, it can also hold an incredible amount of gear. Travelers with really smart ultralight gear can get by with it, for example, even on shorter trips into the countryside. In our experience, the backpack offers the ideal balance of weight and practicality in its category.

The EVA foam back mattress can be removed and used as a seat. At the same time, documents or a smaller laptop in a sleeve can be placed in this pocket, or the mattress can be completely replaced by a laptop sleeve. For example, this waterproof one from Matador. Without the back padding, the backpack can be stuffed into its inner pocket, but even with the padding it takes up very little space when folded in a larger bag. It also serves well as a second luggage.

The drawstring lid may seem like a disadvantage, but with this type of backpack it is actually quite practical. It's very quick to get into the backpack and easy to handle the items inside. In practice, the well-pressed lid doesn't leak inside even in the rain. In the city, the lid can easily be secured against theft with a simple knot on the drawstring.

The Gossamer Gear Minimalist can be combined with the Fast Belt waist belt, which can be clipped on to create an ultra-lightweight pack suitable for multi-day trips with minimalist gear.
